We Heart You means we hear you, love you, and stand together as a community to help each other.

Let’s humanize recovery in our community.

We Heart You has become the tagline of our Winnebago County Overdose Fatality Review (OFR) Team. The "We Heart You" campaign started with one of our first OFR recommendations: to create a resource and referral card sharing the "We Heart You" message and connecting people to United Way's 2-1-1 helpline. The Breakwater Coalition shared this idea through a PSA film that focused on using the card and the importance of any community member sharing this message.

Our support as a team grew with real people in recovery supporting our mission and helping to inspire our ‘We Heart You: Recovery in Our Community’ event. Ripples in the community were created from this event. Since then, Winnebago County has made the Solutions Peer Response Team, a We Heart You App, and a PSA short film that breaks down the stigma of people who have been impacted by substance use disorder and humanizes recovery.

People are thriving in recovery right here in our county.

In the Summer of 2022, we interviewed people in recovery in Winnebago County to document their journey and use their stories for a positive PSA short film highlighting people in recovery. The video was released in January of 2023 and has been used by counties across Wisconsin and nationwide to bring hope and help break the stigma of addiction.

We are breaking the stigma in our community.

In Spring 2022, we hosted the first ever ‘We Heart You: Recovery In Our Community’ event. It connected the recovery community to the greater Oshkosh community. The incredible team of volunteers brought together over 350 individuals, nonprofits, and businesses. This event was about listening, learning, building community, and standing together.

We have resources to help you.

Volunteer sharing local resource about recovery

In the Fall of 2022, we were on a mission to bring all our online resources into one place. We wanted to make it easy and accessible to find helpful information for those in need. We built an app called ‘We Heart You,’ which makes navigating our local resources more friendly. Download it and share it with a friend in need.

I’m not telling you it is going to be easy, I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.
